VETA

From the seam to the circuit. Mining, processing, and off-take across Latin America — starting in Panama.

MISSION

What the earth delivers — sorted, refined, and sold at a fair price. Community before extraction.

VETA is Sora's earth-side counterpart. Where Sora sells experiences of the sky (travel, hospitality, curated time), VETA operates from the subsoil: responsible mining, processing by purity grades, and direct off-take to global semiconductor, EV, and cable manufacturers. It starts in Panama. It follows the Andean mineral spine from there.

01 · THE FOUR PILLARS

What VETA does.

Not just extraction. Four lines, each feeding the next.

01

Extraction

Direct operation at authorized sites with host communities. Copper, lithium, rare earths, aggregates. The social license is the first deliverable — before the first kilogram.

02

Processing

Concentration, smelting, refining by grade. 99.99% copper for semis · 99.95% for cable · concentrate for export. Each grade has its buyer.

03

Off-take

Direct contracts with semiconductor, EV, cable, and rare-earth-processor manufacturers. No middlemen — from seam to circuit.

04

Community

Advisory for the host community + coordination with local authorities. The difference between a mine that runs and a mine that closes is the relationships built before the first drill.

02 · LOW-CAPEX MODELS

Six ways to start without building a mine.

Each starts under $500K. Each produces real margin. None requires buying a concession.

The mining trap is assuming you start with $50-100M capex to open a new mine. You don't. Modern industry has six parallel models that produce revenue without touching a shovel. The majors — Glencore, Trafigura, Wheaton Precious Metals — live there. VETA starts with five of the six at once, and only enters mine-ownership when cash flow from the other five funds it.

01

Physical trading

Buy concentrate in one country, sell refined in another. Touch no mine, no smelter. 3-8% margin on mineral value. Trafigura moves $230B/yr this way. Startup: $50K for account + credit line.

02

Artisanal aggregation

Artisanal miners (Darién, Veraguas) sell gold at 80-85% of LBMA because no buyer has an assayer. VETA puts a branch with an XRF assayer: pays 92-94%. 6-10% margin. Cost: van + assay + safe + license = $80K.

03

Streaming / royalty

Upfront capital to operator for % of future production at discount. Wheaton Precious Metals holds $14B in streams, 15-25% returns. VETA structures the Cobre Panamá streaming deal with First Quantum. Cost: deal capital.

04

Tolling / third-party refining

VETA doesn't build a refinery in Phase 2. Rents capacity at existing refiners in USA (Atlantic Copper) or Asia (Pan Pacific). Pays $200-400/ton processed. Margin captured on concentrate-to-refined spread.

05

Modern chemistry (bacterial leach, sulphide flotation) extracts what 50-year-old tech couldn't. Capex 1/10 of new mine.

06

Direct JV with community

Only model with serious capex — and only when the other five fund it. Comarca Ngäbe-Buglé is the example. Capex shared with community, royalty owed, VETA operates, community votes on decisions.

03 · MINERAL MAP · PANAMA

Nine sites. An underused geology.

Panama sits on the spine of the Central American copper-gold belt. Only two sites are in production.

Panama literally sits on the Central American Arc: the subduction zone between the Caribbean and Cocos plates that has been generating porphyry copper, epithermal gold-silver veins, and submarine manganese since the Eocene. Cobre Panamá is just the best-known. Eight other documented sites exist — most with complete geological studies by MICI (Ministry of Commerce and Industry) but no active operator.

🥉 COPPER · COLÓN

Cobre Panamá · Donoso

OPERATED BY FIRST QUANTUM · SUSPENDED NOV 2023

Country's largest mine. ~5% of national GDP when operating. Reserves: 3.1B tons @ 0.37% Cu. Closed by Supreme Court ruling (unconstitutional contract). VETA structures the streaming deal.

  • Leased quarry · 12-18 month payback
  • Direct demand Sora + RAPITIDO local builds
04 · FPIC PROCESS · COMARCA

How the agreement is built with Ngäbe-Buglé.

It's not paperwork. It's 6-12 months of presence, listening, and written commitments.

FPIC (Free, Prior, and Informed Consent) is the international standard for operating in indigenous territory. ILO Convention 169 + UN Declaration. Not optional, not decorative. Cobre Panamá closed in 2023 partly because it skipped this. VETA does it the opposite way: the agreement comes first, permits come after. The six-step sequence ensures the community is partner, not vendor.

05 · LATAM DESK · IMPORT + RESELL

While Panama matures, we earn margin moving someone else's mineral.

Brazil, Chile, Peru, Bolivia produce what the world needs. Panama has ports. It's geography + patience.

LATAM produces 40% of world copper, 60% of lithium, 50% of silver, 100% of niobium. Most leaves as concentrate to Asian refiners — with no LATAM margin. VETA builds a trading desk headquartered in PA City, leveraging the banking hub and the Canal. Buy concentrate from producer, refine in USA or Asia under tolling, sell refined to end-makers. 4-12% margin depending on mineral. This is what Trafigura ($230B/yr) and Glencore ($244B/yr) do — and there's no serious LATAM-native trader competing.

🇧🇷 BRASIL
Niobio · monopolio CBMM

CBMM (Minas Gerais) controls ~85% of world niobium. Customer: high-performance steel + superconductors + EV. FOB price: $42K/ton. VETA buys annual contract + resells to Asian manufacturers via PA.

ALSO: IRON · MANGANESE · BAHIA LITHIUM
🇨🇱 CHILE
Litio + cobre Atacama

SQM and Albemarle dominate Atacama lithium. EV demand exploding. VETA contracts emerging smaller salars (Maricunga, Pedernales) — small producers without global sales channels. Margin: 5-9%.

ALSO: CODELCO COPPER · MOLYBDENUM · SILVER
🇵🇪 PERU
Plata · #2 del mundo

Peru is the #2 silver producer worldwide (~4,000 tons/yr). Small producers in Pasco + Huancavelica + Cerro de Pasco sell to Chinese middlemen. VETA opens Lima office, pays 2-3% more, captures volume. Margin: 6-10%.

ALSO: ANTAMINA COPPER · ZINC · GOLD · TIN
🇧🇴 BOLIVIA
Estaño + litio Uyuni

Bolivia holds the world's largest lithium reserve (Salar de Uyuni · ~21M tons) — but complex politics. Cerro Rico tin + Potosí zinc are more accessible. VETA focus: electronic-solder tin (EV demand).

ALSO: SILVER · ZINC · ANTIMONY · TUNGSTEN
🇨🇴 COLOMBIA
Esmeraldas · #1 mundial

Colombia produces ~55% of world emeralds (Muzo, Coscuez, Chivor). Opaque market, heavy middleman layer. VETA opens Bogotá desk with GIA-certified gemologist, pays premium for origin certification. Margin: 12-25%.

ALSO: CERRO MATOSO NICKEL · COAL · GOLD
🇲🇽 MEXICO
Plata · #1 del mundo · fluorita

07 · STRATEGIC PARTNERS

Who VETA operates with.

No launch works alone. Three rings of partner: community, operator, local government.

PRIMARY PARTNER · COMMUNITY
Congreso General Ngäbe-Buglé

The Comarca's traditional governance body. Direct JV, binding voice on operational decisions, community fund, joint environmental monitoring.

MINING PARTNER · STREAMING
First Quantum Minerals

Canadian operator of Cobre Panamá. Natural counterparty for a streaming deal once the Donoso operation restarts.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT · CHIRIQUÍ
Regional authorities

Operational coordination with provincial governor + mayoralties + national police. Permits, site security, road logistics, contingency response protocols.

FUTURE · OFF-TAKE
Electronics + EV manufacturers

Long-term contracts with end-buyers — semi, battery, cable, and electric-motor makers. Avoid dependence on commodity traders.

08 · COMMUNITY + RISK

The reason Cobre Panamá closed.

It wasn't geology. It wasn't technology. It was people who didn't feel heard.

In October and November 2023, Panama lived through the largest protests in its recent history. The trigger: the renegotiated contract between the State and Minera Panamá (a First Quantum subsidiary) extending Cobre Panamá's operation 20 more years. Panamanians felt the contract favored the foreign investor and excluded local voice. The Supreme Court declared the contract unconstitutional in November 2023. The mine closed.

VETA takes the lesson in reverse. The social license isn't paperwork — it's the most expensive and most fragile asset. Build it before the first drill. Maintain it with real money (royalty + community fund), open data (published environmental monitoring), and direct dealing (not through operators).

The VETA model

Host community = JV partner, not vendor, not neighbor. Vote on operational decisions. Royalty proportional to production. Community fund for local infrastructure (schools, water, connectivity). Local-priority hiring. Continuous technical training. Environmental monitoring with community representatives present at every reading.

PLAYBOOK · OPERATIONAL STABILITY

How to keep a LATAM mine running

Mines that close don't close because of geology. They close because relationships broke. VETA invests in relationships first, mineral second.

  • BEFORE THE FIRST DRILL. Formal meetings with the General Congress. Master agreement with binding voice.
  • LOCAL TEAM. Community relations manager is from the community — not an expat.
  • PUBLIC MONITORING. Water quality, noise, dust — published monthly, audited annually.
  • REAL MONEY. Royalty + community fund paid before any dividends to investors.
  • POLICE + GOVERNORSHIP. Shared contingency protocols. No surprises for any side.
  • COBRE PANAMÁ LESSON. An unpopular contract is worth less than none. Public approval is the guarantee.
